New Year New You? Events Update!

 

 

Hey Everyone!! Just want to do a couple of quick social announcements as we sit and wait on the pending storm, hoping for low temperatures!!

We are stoked to announce a new partnership with Bogside Brewery!! During our events this winter, we will have Souris Striders branded beer (in a flavor that should be friendly to all!), as well as Apple SNAP and Bogside 0%! Throughout the season, we will be stocking Bogside 0% in the fridges at the lodge – so feel free to enjoy an “Apres Ski” beverage upstairs and socialize!

Events:

“Under the Lights w/ Bogside 0”: Our partnership with Bogside includes sponsorship of an “Under the Lights w/ Bogside!” ski. This will occur every Thursday night throughout the winter and will kick off at 8pm for approximately 1hr, finishing at the warming hut with a complimentary Bogside 0% beer for anyone attending. Looking to maintain your New Year’s resolutions? This is a great way to check off fitness + no alcohol! The first session will occur 18 January. This is inclusive of both skiers and snowshoers and headlamps are recommended for snowshoers, while skiers can stick to the lit 3.25 or choose to headlamp the 5k or 8k. Depending on group size, we will separate by experience levels, and for those less experienced – this is a great forum to pair up with an advanced skier and get some tips over a beer by the fire! Look for an update here next week to confirm ski conditions.

Winterval – Souris Striders “Keep the Lights On” Weekend: Our theme “Keep the Lights On” is based on all events being by donation with a goal of fundraising this year’s electrical bill for our night skiing!! This is in line with our attempt to keep club activities accessible to all. Bogside products will be available throughout the weekend at the lodge and at the warming hut during the Sunset Ski for purchase. We will have our Souris Striders labeled cans available for purchase.

• Friday Night Trivia w/ Rusty and Martin: 7 – 10 pm w/ a maximum of 90 participants. Please email to reserve your spot! Recommended team size 4 -6 people. There will be 2 MYSA Nordic Spa passes as door prizes generously donated by MYSA.
• Saturday:
  • 7 – 8 AM: Sunrise Ski w/ Board of Directors!
  • 8 – 10 AM: Pancake Breakfast @ the Lodge.
  • 10AM – 4PM: Snowshoe Orienteering. There will be a 3k (friendly for all abilities) and a 6k route (more challenging points to find). with registration at the lodge. We will track time out and time in, and the top teams will receive prizes.
  • 7 – 8pm: Sunset Ski w/ a fire at the warming hut.
  • 8 – 11pm: Live music at the Lodge w/ Billy White.
• Sunday: Spa Day! Head to MYSA Nordic Spa to complete the Nordic experience!

Bogside / Striders Snowshoe Event: 11 Feb 24 we will be doing a group snowshoe at Roma Trail (with free rentals for those without snowshoes) followed by a social at Bogside w/ $5 Pints for those who participate. There will be members of Souris Wildlife in attendance to provide insights into some of the ecology of the region, and will also be available at Bogside for additional conversation regarding projects and initiatives in Eastern PEI. More details to follow as we confirm closer to the date.

Ski 24 on the 24th: 24 Feb 24, we are looking to have skiers come out and ski as far as possible (24k is the goal!), starting at 10am, but open throughout the day. We will have Loaf & Ladle out starting at 3:30, serving up a tailored menu for “Apres Ski” style soups! This lodge popup isn’t only for skiers, this is open to everyone!!! So if you would just like to come out and get a feel for the atmosphere within the club, this is a great event to come out! We will also be doing a guided snowshoe on the full 6k system this day as well starting at 2pm.

 

We are now good for purchasing memberships online, and the full membership comes with a club-branded toque & sticker! Once these are available for pickup, we will put a notice on the site! Keep a lookout on our social media for the reveal of the new label, and see you out under the lights!
